Fred F. Poole, 84, of Nichols, died at 8:55 a.m. today at the Iowa City Care Center, Route 5, Iowa City, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1883 in Muscatine County, the son of Milburne and Julia E. Stafford Poole.
Mr. Poole married Hazel Bixby March 18, 1914 at Muscatine. He was a member of the First Christian church of Nichols; the IOOF Lodge No. 190 for over 50 years and was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 14
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Chown; Mrs. Robert (Betty Jean) Harbit, both of Nichols. Also, a sister, Mrs. Verle (Edna) Heath, West Liberty. There are 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, were his parents, one son, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services are pending at the George M. Wittich funeral home where friends may start calling this evening. Burial will be at Nichols.
