Obituary: Jane Elizabeth Bixby

Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Bixby, 74, died at 11:55 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J W Knox, 414 1-2 Mulberry avenue. She had been in ill health for the past two years, and had been bedfast for the past week. Death resulted from old age and complications.
Mrs. Bixby was born on Feb 22, 1864 in Mercer county, Ill., and spent her early life there. She had resided in Muscatine and vicinity for the past 30 years. She was married to Lewis Martin Bixby at Aledo, Ill. In March, 1881, and her husband preceded her in death in 1931. Two sisters, two daughters and a son also preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Knox and Mrs. W H. Stalkfleet, both of Muscatine, and Mrs. D. G. Brown and Mrs. Fred Poole, both of Nichols: Three sons, Francis Bixby and Glen Bixby, both of Nichols, and Arthur Bixby of Muscatine; and four brothers, Dan Curry of Joy Ill., William Curry of Muscatine, Francis Curry of Seaton, Ill., and Bert Curry of New Boston, Ill. Twenty-one grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday from the George M. Wittich Funeral Home, where thebody has been taken and will remain until time for burial. The Rev. Mina Hargis of the Nichols Christian church will be in charge. Burial will be at Nichols.
