Obituary: Lewis M. Bixby

Lewis Martin Bixby, 78, died at his home near Nichols at 2:10 Wednesday afternoon after an illness of two weeks with paralysis and advanced age.
He was born near Montrose, Ia., April 19, 1854. For many years he made his home in Mercer county, Ill., returning to Iowa in 1908 and residing here until the time of his death. He married Jane E. Curry, April 22, 1882. Ten Children were to them, three preceding him in death.
Surviving are seven children, Mrs. J. W. Knox, Muscatine; Mrs. D. G. Browne, Eliza, Ill.; Mrs. W. H. Stalkfleet, Mrs. Fred Poole, Francis, Arthur and Glenn Bixby, all of Nichols; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Poole, at Nichols. Burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.
