Services Today for Lester N. Crowe, 61
Funeral services for Lester Nathan Crowe, 61, 107 First ave., a carpenter, were held today at the Sellergren Funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Lewellen officiating and burial in Evergreen cemetery. A lifetime resident of Red Oak, he died Tuesday, June 13, at Murphy Memorial hospital after a lengthy illness. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton L. Crowe, he was born in Montgomery county May 3, 1906, and was married in 1926 to Glenna Hunt, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Lee and Jim, both Red Oak; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Lyle Sederburg, Red Oak. Mr. Crowe was a member of the First Christian church.

BABY DIES WHILE PARENTS ON VISIT
Mr. and Mrs. Crowe Return to Find Infant Dead.

Eldon Elvin Crowe, fourteen months-old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Crowe, died shortly after midnight Saturday night at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hunt, 209 Third avenue. The baby had been sick just a little over an hour with convulsions. Mr. and Mrs. Crowe had left the children with Mrs. Crowe’s parents while they had gone on a vacation visit to Hammond, Ind., for a visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. Walter Matter. They did not know of their baby’s death until their arrival in Red Oak last night. The baby was in perfect health when they left here. Eldon was born in Red Oak May 10, 1932. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Crowe and two brothers, Lee Edward, 6 and Leland Fay, 4, by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hunt and his grandmother, Mrs. Ida Crowe, of near Red Oak. Funeral services will be held at the Perryman Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Ira Carney, of the Christian church, in charge of the services. Pallbearers will be William Bailey, Jack Wallace, Harold Dodd and Darrel Hunt. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Lee was united in marriage to Elouise Joann Johnson on February 16, 1945 in Red Oak, Iowa. Lee is survived by his wife, three daughters: Karen Pratt, Connie Sowers of Red Oak, IA; and Karla McCunn of Red Oak, IA; son, Terry Crowe and his wife Cathy of Red Oak, IA; 10 grandchildren: Troy Sowers and wife Sharla of Warrensburg, MO, Todd Sowers of Red Oak, IA; Stacie Hamilton and husband Brad of Pleasant Hill, IA; Dana Nelson and husband Steve of Urbandale, IA; Darla Dovel and husband Chris of Red Oak, IA; Danelle Bruce and husband Scott of Red Oak, IA; Shawn McCunn of Stanton, IA; Jason McCunn and wife Naomi of Red Oak, IA; Sandra Crowe of Omaha, NE; and Andrew Crowe of Red Oak, IA; 21 great-grandchildren: McKayla, Malorie and Logan Sowers; Tyler and Cole Sowers; Rylie and Reese Hamilton; Greg, Ryan and Rachel Nelson; Crystal and John Dovel; Madison, Aiden and Sawyer Bruce; Ashley, Owen and Avery McCunn; and Alexa, Justin and Josie McCunn; along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Lee Crowe, 55, 511 Linden St., a carpenter, were Saturday at Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home with the Rev Byron Paxton officiating and burial in Evergreen Cemetery. He died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, after a lengthy illness. Death followed surgery. The son of Mr and Mrs. Lester Crowe, he was born here April 8, 1927, and was a lifetime resident of Red Oak. He was married in 1945 to Elouise Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are son, Terry, Red Oak; three daughters, Connie Sowers of Henderson, Karen Pratt and Karla McCunn, both Red Oak, mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dodson, Red Oak, 10 grandchildren, brother, Jim, Red Oak. Crowe was a U.S. Navy veteran with service from 1945 to 1947.

Leland is survived by his wife Betty, two daughters: Pamela Hughes and husband Loren of Dows, IA and Kathy Sorensen and husband Leroy of Stanton, IA; son-in-law: David Clark of Boone, IA; 11 grandchildren: Kim, Lynn, Jessi, Michelle, Dawn, Tricia, Caleigh, Ted, Chris, Mary and Mindy; 24 great-grandchildren.
