Muriel Maxine Aughe, 77, of Red Oak died Saturday, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 22, 1925, in Mills County near Glenwood to Ira and Grace (Ettleman) Greenwood.

She graduated from the Glenwood High School in 1943 and taught country school for two years in Mills County. While teaching she met a young farmer, Clarence Fay Aughe and was married April 8, 1945, in Glenwood.

Muriel and Clarence Aughe farmed all of their lives living in Neola, Bartlett and Emerson before buying their own farm near Red Oak in 1968.

She worked for Montgomery Ward, Village Inn and was a hostess for Super America for more than five years. She then worked for the Thomas D. Murphy Company & J.I.I., retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church at Tabor and the Jolly Janes Club of Emerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence Aughe May 5, 1998; and two brothers, Burwyn Dale and Daryl David Greenwood.

Survivors include her three daughters, Christinia Palser and husband, Darrel, of Council Bluffs, Shirley Sinnott and husband, Daniel, of Omaha, and Beverly Dickinson and husband, Ron, of Council Bluffs; three sons, Clarence Aughe Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Villisca, Nathan Aughe and wife, Julia, of Phoenix, and Scott Aughe of Red Oak; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Vernie Brake and Elnora McPherron and husband, Neil, all of Glenwood; and Leora Aughe of Council Bluffs; many other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Erickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be offered to the First Christian Church.
