DIED – At the home of his parents near Nodaway, March 3, 1894, William E. Hewitt, aged 23. His death was very sudden and unexpected, resulting from an illness supposed to affect the brain and not lasting over ten minutes. He had always been a strong, healthy boy, and was apparently as well as usual a short time before his death. Doubly sad is his death, coming only a few days after his marriage and when his plans were being laid for a happy future. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Redburn, were held at the M. E. Church here, Monday, and were attended by Co. B, of which he was a valued member, also by the resident graduates of the High School (he as a member of the class ’91), and a large number of other friends. A beautiful floral lyre, the offering of the alumnal association, was laid on the casket.
