Bill Pelzer, 57

Services for Leon Irvin ( Bill ) Pelzer, 57, Lyman community farmer, were Tuesday,at United Methodist Church in Griswold with the Rev. Peter Siemens officiating. Burial was in Noble Center Cemetery south of Lyman with arrangements by Roland's Funeral Services, Atlantic.

He died Saturday at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, after a lengthy illness with cancer.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Pelzer , he was born in Noble Township of Cass County Oct. 16, 1926, and was graduated from the Griswold High School in 1945. He was married to Eleanor M. Erickson in 1955 and farmed his entire life in the Lyman area.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Noble Center Church in Lyman and in recent years was a member of the Griswold United Methodist Church.

During the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army in Germany. He was active in the Griswold American Legion Post 508 and held local, district, state and national offices. He was also a member of the Atlantic BPO Elks Lodge No. 445.

Surviving are his wife, son, Randall, Griswold, three daughters, Debra Jo Pelzer of Omaha, Beth Ann Pelzer of Griswold, Lisa Vetter of Red Oak, one granddaughter, mother, Mrs. Irvin Pelzer, of Gothenberg, Neb., four brothers, Cecil of Greeley, Colo., Richard and Max both of Estherville, and Norman of Gothenberg, Neb. , sister, Juanita Kiesel of Omaha,
