May Winter, 83

Services for may Winter 83, were Saturday at United Methodist Church, Villisca, with the Rev. Steven Wainwright officiating. Burial was in North Page Cemetery of Page County with arrangements by Sutphen Funeral Home.

She died Oct. 25, at her Villisca home.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Winter, she was born May 13, 1900 in Montgomery County and was 1918 graduate of Villisca High School. After teaching in rural schools in the Villisca area and teaching grade schooll at Villisca she received her degree in physical education from University of Northern Iowa and obtained a master's degree in mathematics at a Texas university.

She taught high school and junior college physical education in Chariton and later taught for 32 years in Amarillo, Texas. After retiring she did private tutoring. She returned to Villisca in 1975 to make her home.

She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma, member of United Methodist Church at Villisca and had been a cancer fund volunteer.

Surviving are two sisters, Vera Kennedy of Nodaway and Margaret Stickler of Tallahassee, Fla., brother, Francis Winter , Springfield, Ohio.
