(January 13, 1942 - March 10, 2016)

Richard Ervin Burke, 74, of Stanton, Iowa passed away on March 10, 2016, at Southern Hills Specialty Care facility in Osceola, Iowa following a brief illness.
A Tribute to Richard’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Tabor Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Inurnment will follow the Service at the Mamre Cemetery.
Richard was born in Red Oak, Iowa on January 13, 1942. After graduating from Stanton High School Richard served our country in the armed services and throughout his life was a proud Veteran, always supporting the American Legion in Stanton. His joy was being Santa in Stanton, taking fruit and toys to the children.
Richard married Judy (Schlicht) Burke on August 21,1965. Together, they had three children.
Richard was a farmer his whole life in Montgomery County, and a lifelong resident of Stanton. He enjoyed caring for the farm livestock as well as crop farming. He also enjoyed reading and having coffee with his friends. He always looked forward to Saturday mornings, to attend the livestock auction in Red Oak, Iowa. Richard’s favorite time of the year was the Iowa State Fair, he enjoyed attending every year. He was also involved in the community as well as the church.
Richard is survived by his children; Sherri Eiting (Joseph) of Francis, Utah, Sandi Deery (David) of Des Moines, Iowa and Scott Burke (Rebecca) of Lemon Grove, California; 6 Grandchildren, Cassidy and Sadie Eiting, Corey and Carley Deery, Lydia and LeAnne Burke; siblings, Dean Burke (Joanie), John Burke, Janice Kinser (Butch), Clair Burke and Dennis Burke (Jennifer), as well as many other family and friends.Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Linnea Burke.
Richard had a generous nature and will be missed by many. He will be forever is our hearts. Rest in Peace.
In Lieu of flowers, donations for Richard will be given to Ernie Johnson, American Legion Post 406 or Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation, (A memory brick for the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation for Richard, will be placed in close proximity of the Swine Buildings).
