Elizabeth "Bettie" Fannie Roberson, 93 of Red Oak, formerly of Glenwood, died Oct. 29, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Home in Red Oak. Funeral services were held Nov. 1 at the Hertz Funeral Home in Carson. Rev. Michael Harvey officiated the services. Interment was at the Macedonia Cemetery.

Mrs. Roberson was the daughter of Martin Leander and Mabel (Leonard) Wilson born Dec 13, 1910, in Trail, Okla. She grew up and attended grade school in Trail. In 1925, the family moved to Glenwood, and she graduated from Glenwood High School in 1930. She moved to Battle Creek, Mich., where she met Edward Slocum, and her first son was born. They later moved to Glenwood. She marned John C. Roberson of Macedonia on Jan. 28, 1939, in Rock Port, Mo. They established their home on a farm near Macedonia, and their marriage was blessed with 10 children. They had owned and operated their farm for over 30 years at the time of Mr. Roberson’s death on Aug. 14, 1968. Mrs. Roberson continued to live in Macedonia and then moved to Glenwood and worked for over 15 years as a foster grandparent at the Glenwood State Hospital-School In 2001, she moved to the Good Samaritan Home. Mrs. Roberson’s enjoyments included gardening and flowers, quilting, crafts and reading. She enjoyed teaching the preschool Sunday school children at the Macedonia Methodist Church for 15 years.

Mrs.Roberson was preceded in death by her parents; husband John C. Roberson; daughters Donna Roberson and Theresa Curtis; daughter-in-law Norma Roberson; grandson David Gibler; great-grandson Ryan Knoke; and brothers Clifford Wilson, Jake Wilson, Claude Wilson and Johnnie Wilson. She is survived by children Bernard Roberson and wife Karen of Carson, DyAnna Brown and husband Johnnie of Aurora, Neb., Jessie McKinney of North Carolina, Maynard Roberson of Henderson, Nadine Boeger and husband Kenneth of Red Oak, Willard Roberson and wife Doris of Kansas City, Mo., Kathryn Gibler of Macedonia, Leonard Roberson of Coshocton, Ohio, and Edward Slocum Sr. and wife Emily of Sumter, S.C.; brothers Edward Wilson of Watkins, Colo., and Fred Wilson of Rickets; sisters Pauline Helms of Galesburg, Ill., and Anita Stogdill of Council Bluffs; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
