Funeral services for Ruth A. ( Mattson ) Smith, 70, St. Joseph, MO. will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Heaton Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph with Rev. Allan Lane officiating. Interment will be in Mt.Auburn Cemetery, Mrs. Smith died Friday ( Feb. 2, 2001 ) at a St. Joseph, MO. hopital.

She was born Nov. 23, 1930 in Red Oak,IA. She had been a St. Joseph, MO. resident most of her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church inSt. Joseph. She had also worked as licensed practical nurse and x-ray tech at the St. Joseph State Hospital #2 for 31 years, Following that she worked at the Community Blood Center for the past 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Leona ( Ross) Mattson, a brother, James Mattson in 1974 znd her husband, Elmer Lee Smith on May 12, 1995.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Mattson of Laclede, ID., and Dan Mattson of St. Joseph, MO., two sisters, Carol Blacketer of Osage City, KS., and Patricia Meyer of St. Joseph, MO., several nieces and nephews.
