Funeral services for LeRoy West, 77, Creston, were Friday, March 5, 1t the First Christian Church in Creston with Dr. Robert Pickerell and Rev. Tom Shinkle officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery. Military rites were by the VFW Post #1797. Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston was in charge of arrangements. Memorial may be directed to the LeRoy West Memorial Fund. Mr. West died at his home Tuesday ( March 2, 1999 ).

He was born April 19, 1921, in Red Oak to george Louis and Mary ( Richardson ) West. He married Janice Isaacson Sept. 30, 1942, in Maryville, MO. He was a truck driver and a farmer and retired in 1994. They lived in Red Oak until moving to Creston in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, Teamsters and Union County Saddle Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janice West, great granddaughter, Kelly Adamson, and a sister, Elsie Mae Miller.

Survivors include a son, Darwin West and his wife, June, of Creston, two daughters, Norma Jean Smith and her husband, Doug, of Creston, and Nancy Abbott and her husband, Dan, of Martinsdale.IA., nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
