Marilyn Younggren, 78, Essex , died Jan. 22, 2015, while at her winter home on South Padre Island, Texas.

Marilyn Norma Younggren, the daughter of Glen C. and Florence M. ( King ) Jackson, was born Aug. 18, 1936 in Montgomery County.

Marilyn attended County Stewart School and graduated from Villisca High School in 1953. After high school, she worked at Houghton SState Bank, Montgomery County National Ban, and First Federa Savings and AgPro.

She married Norman Lawrence Younggren from Essex onDec. 22, 1957, in Bertrand, Neb.. They had three children, Brent, Nancy and Craig. The raised their family on the Younggren farm north of Essex and moved into Essex in 1979.

Marilyn was a member of the Fremont Lutheran Church, Nyman, and taught Sunday school, served as church treasurer and was a member of the Priscilla Circle, WLCA, Maple grove Club abd the Merry Mixers Club. Marilyn enjoyed many hobbies throughtout her life, and her hands were always busy with sewing, quilting, and crafts. She also loved to fish and travel with her husband and family, along with enjpying their retirement years wintering in South Padre Island. She enjoyed playing cards with her kids and grandkids. She always knew the rules, as was often called upon to keep score because of her booking back-ground. She was known for her distinctive voice, laugh and walk.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents , sister, Margaret Tiede, brother, Ronald Jackson, granddaughter, Bailey Jean Buechner, brother-in-law, Keith Peterson and sister-in-laws, Betty Younggren, and Marcia Younggren.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norman Younggren, Essex, her children, Brent ( Jolene ) of Essex, Nancy ( David 0 buechner, Sarasota, Fla., Craig ( Kerri ) Younggren , Lenexa, Kan., grandchildrfen, Jacon ( Allie ) Younggren, Olathe, Kan., Matthew ( Kelsey ) Younggren, Cedar Rapids., Morgan and MacKenzie Buechner, Sarasota, katelyn Younggren, Lenexa, great grandchildren, Mason and Beau Younggren, Olathe, two sisters, Janice ( Ronald ) Scott, Bloomington, Ill., and Lois Jean Peterson , Stanton, sister-in-law, Deloris Jackson, Red Oak, and brother-in-law, Robert Younggren, Clarinda.

She will be missed by her family members,many nieces, and nephews, and dear friends both at home in Essex and at her winter home at Tiki on South Padre Island.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Fremont Kutheran Church at Nyman with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery aat Nyman. Rev. Jerry Lamb will officiate.
