SERVICES TODAY for MRS. CARPENTER, 91

Mrs. Carpenter died July 1st, 1948 and is buried in Lowman Cemetery.

Services were held today at the Sellergren Funeral Home for Mrs. Susan Jane Carpenter, 91, who died Thursday July 1, in Council Bluffs after a two and one-half year illness.
   
Rev. William Lee of Elliott officiated. Music was by Mrs. Orrin Carmichael. Bearers were Ray Van Buskirk, Frank Mellot, James Good, Carl Johnson, Arthur Peterson and Emil Peterson.
   
The daughter of David and Abby (Sprague) Taft, she was born near Stennett Dec. 3, 1857. She was married twice, to B.F. Laire and W.H. Carpenter.
   
A member of the Union Church at Stennett, she is survived by a stepson, Earl Carpenter of Red Oak; six grandchildren, Mrs. Glen Gilchrist of Alliance, NE, Mrs. Glen Woods , Loring Laire, Mervin Laire, Gerald Laire and Newell Laire, all of Red Oak.
