TEFFT - Elisha Tefft, a well known resident of Sherman township, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Jane Laire, near Stennett, Wednesday afternoon at 1:00. The deceased was an unmarried man of about 59 years of age and came to this county in 1856. Funeral services were held at the house Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock; and interment made in a private burying ground on the Laire homestead.
[NOTE by Submitter: May 25, 1904. Mr. Tefft was buried on the land he helped to homestead, which was the Harry Laire farm at Stennett, Iowa. In 1989 His grave was exhumed and entered in Lowman Cemetery. Other family members exhumed from the Laire property were Elisha's parents, David and Abby Tefft and his brother-in-law, William H. Carpenter.]
