HARRY M. LAIRE, 63
        
Well-known native of Montgomery
County Dies of Heart Attack on
Saturday Afternoon, Oct. 6

The death of Harry M. Laire occurred Saturday afternoon as he and Mrs. Laire were driving home from the ice plant. He was suddenly seized with distress and Mrs. Laire took the wheel, but a short time afterward he became unconscious and soon passed away. He had been known to have heart trouble.

Mr. Laire was born in this county April 28, 1882, a son of B.F. and Susan Laire, and had spent his entire life in this community.

He was united in marriage to Essie Wilson of Griswold, who survives, on July 22, 1916 at Omaha. NE. Six children include Mrs. Glenn Gilchrist of Alliance, NE, Loring and Newell in the Armed Forces, Mervin, Jerold and Awanda at home. He is also survived by his aged mother Susan J. Carpenter; one grandchild, Barbara Ann Gilchrist; three half brothers, Paul and Joe of Vinita, OK. And Pete in the Armed Forces; and a half sister, Lois Gibson, of Spokane, WA.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 9, at 2:30 from the Boileau & Thomas Garden Chapel, Rev. Guy J. Fansher officiating. Pallbearers were James Good, Dallas Bills, Robert Ackerman, E.W. Erickson, Arthur Peterson, and Frank Mellott. Music was by Mrs. Helen Jones and Mrs. Minnie Todtleben with Mrs. Harry Turner accompanist. Burial was in the Lowman Cemetery east of Elliott.
