PHILIP WINCE DEAD.

Had Lived in Red Oak Since 1879 [1869] -- Funeral to be Held This Afternoon.

Philip Wince, aged 76 years, and since 1869 a resident of Red Oak, died at his home, 604 Nuckols St., at 1:30 o'clock yesterday morning, Nov. 5, from kidney trouble from which he had been ailing for about a year. He had been bed-fast for a week.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the home. Rev. W. B. Crewdson, of the Elliott Christian church, will preach the sermon, and members of the church choir will sing. The pallbearers will be Jerry Ingalls, Nate Brown, G. W. Pierce, James Devine, Jacob Wolfe and James Allen. Burial will be in Red Oak cemetery.

Mr. Wince was born in Licking county, Ohio, June 3, 1838, and moved later to Fairbury, Ill., where he enlisted in Co. E, 129th infantry in which he served for three years. In 1869 he came to Red Oak from Anamosa and in May 1873 was married here to Mary Dragoo, who survives him. He is also survived by two children, Lucy Jane Wince, of Red Oak, and Isaac R. Wince of Corning.

Deceased worked here for the railroad company for many years. He was a member of the Methodist church and the G.A.R. post. He leaves many friends who extend sympathy to the sorrowing family.
