Mary Elizabeth Hartley Ewart - Nov 17 1915

Mary Elizabeth Hartley was born March 1, 1844 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, and died at her home in Elliott, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1915, aged 71 years 8 months and 16 days.

On Feb 27, 1864, she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband, A. Ewart and to this union was born 11 children, 8 of whom survive their mother and 3 have preceded her to the world beyond, as follows: Mrs. Anna Buss, Mary Ellen and Walter. The living children are: O. M. Ewart, A. F. Ewart and Mrs. Ed Stanton of Nodaway; Mrs. D. E. Martin, Hershey, Nebraska; Mrs B. F. Stanton of Guss; Mrs. E. H. Goessling of Nodaway and C. M. Ewart and Mrs. Ernest Dotson of Grant.

In 1867, Mrs. Ewart with her husband moved to Delaware County, Iowa where they resided until 1868 when they moved to Cass County settling on a farm northeast of Elliott. They resided on this farm until March 1, 1913 at which time they gave up farming and settled down to spend their declining days at Elliott.

Funeral serices were held at the Lowman Church conducted by Rev. D. S. Thompson, pastor of the Church of Christ at Griswold. Interment was made at the cemetery adjoining the church.
