Clotilda D. “Tillie” Curry, age 100, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, January 14, 2005 at her home after an extended illness. Clotilda DeChantal “Tillie” Curry was born July 8, 1904 in Corning, Iowa the daughter of John and Mary (Morris) Hogan. She was raised in Corning but attended St. Joseph Academy in Ottumwa, Iowa graduating in 1922. She attended University of Omaha for 2 years and began teaching. She taught for 6 years before she was united in marriage to Peter A. Curry on June 3, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska at the Holy Name Church. Peter and Tillie moved to a farm in Pilot Grove Township in 1936. They farmed until Pete’s death in 1969. Tillie moved into Red Oak in 1971. Tillie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, life member of the Rosary Hospital Auxiliary in Corning, Iowa, Extension Homemaker of the Year in 1950, Retired Teachers Association, and the Montgomery County Health Improvement Association. She also loved traveling especially her trips to Ireland.

Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Peter A. Curry on July 3, 1969; her daughter-in-law: Doris Curry; her son: John P. “Jack” Curry; her brothers: John, Aloysious “Bud”, and Robert, and sisters: Mary Flanagan and Helen Bond.

Survivors include her grandchildren: James Robert Holbrook and Deborah Lynn Holbrook both of Maryville, Missouri; Sheryl Ann Hamann and husband Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Pamela Jean Gutierrez and husband Mark of Omaha, Nebraska; great grandchildren: Stacey Corbett of Omaha, Nebraska; Travis Hamann and wife Heather of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Wendi Hamann of Omaha, Nebraska; great great grandchildren: Mark Davis, Tiare Kentner, Ashley and Cait-Lynn Corbett, and Tristan and Tanner Hamann; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, January 17, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Don Bruck celebrant. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Rosary will be held 2 PM Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with visitation with the family to follow until 3:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
