Phillip Johnson, age 53, of Elliott, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after an extended illness.

Phillip Johnson was born July 31, 1947 in Elliott, the son of Dan and Viola (Aim) Johnson. He has lived all of his life in the Elliott
area. Phil worked for Johnson Brothers Construction for many years and in 1979 started Phillip Johnson Construction Company.

He was united in marriage to Linda Peterson on August 9, 2000 at their home near Elliott, Iowa.
Phil was a member of the First Covenant Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #1304. He was also a former member of the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department and Elliott Businessmen's Association.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Dan Johnson on July 30, 1994, and an infant brother, Danny Johnson.

Survivors include his wife: Linda Johnson of Elliott, Iowa; Mother, Viola Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa; Son, Cody Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa, 2 daughters, Callie (Pronounced Kay Lee) Colberg and her husband Matt of Gig Harbor, Washington and
Mindy Hale of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 step-daughters, Traci Schafroth and her husband David of Corning and Jodi Perrin and her husband Scott of Corning, brother, Bob Johnson and his wife Margaret of Altoona, Iowa, sister Kathy Quinn and her husband
Kevin of Red Oak; 14 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2000 at the Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Monty Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2000 at the Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
