RED OAK - Lonnie "Pete" Petersen, 60, of Red Oak died Nov. 25 at his home.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1943 in Council Bluffs to Paul and Coral (Macklind) Petersen. He attended schools in Council Bluffs. He served in the U.S. Army during the 1960s.

He married Carol Holste in 1968. He moved to Colorado in 1972 and lived there many years. During this time, he went to work in Alaska on the trucks that worked the pipeline for two years.

He married Joyce Albrecht on May 10, 1980 in Council Bluffs. In 1998, they moved to Red Oak where he started Pete's Construction Co. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping, square dancing, bowling, Country and Western music and was an outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two sons, Lonnie Russell and wife, Shana, of Woodstock, Ga. and Erwin Russell and wife, Kim, of Decatur, Ill.; his mother, Coral, of Council Bluffs; stepson, Dale Albrecht and wife, Sandy, of Arvada, Colo.; stepdaughter, Cassie Decker and husband, Tony, of Red Oak; eight grandchildren, Jacob and Jeremy Russell, of Woodstock, Ga., J.D. and D.J. Albrecht of Arvada, Colo. and Alicia, Katie, Phillip and Renee Decker of Red Oak; three sisters, Paula Woods and husband, Larry, of Council Bluffs, Patti Rief and husband, Michael, of Council Bluffs and Janette Bell and husband, Charlie, of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Gary and wife, Judy, of Anamosa; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel with the Rev. David MacDonald officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Family Support Group of the 1168th Transportation Co. or the Red Oak Fire Department.
