WOOKEY

Mrs. Jane Wookey, 88, widow of Adrian P. Wookey, resident of this
county for 45 years, died Wednesday at 8 a.m., at her home in
Griffithville, from diseases incident to old age, following illness of
five months.
Jane Salter was born June 24, 1838, at Mark, Causeway,
Somersetshire, England, and was married there to Adrian P. Wookey,
April 12, 1859.
They came to Decatur County, Iowa, in 1879, and to Montgomery
County in 1881, settling on a farm in West township in 1909. They
retired from the farm and moved to Griffithville in 1909. Mr. Wookey
died there in 1913.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ellen Fisher, Geo.
Wookey, Mrs. G.M. Penry, and Henry Wookey, of Red Oak; Mrs. W.H.
Fisher, Winside, Neb; Mrs. Frank Annesburg, Springfield, S.D, and
Thos. Wookey, of Grand River. There are 17 grandchildren and 20 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist
Church at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. L. Weis. Singing will be
by a quartet selected from the church choir.
The pallbearers will be Roy Fisher, E.G. Fisher, Chas. Zarnda, Glen
Adams, Altis Fisher and Fred Lampe. Interment will be in the Red Oak
cemetery. Mrs. W.H. Fisher, Winside, Neb, and Thos. Wookey of Grand
River, will be here to attend the funeral.
