Mr. Isaac Mullen died at the home of his brother Dan. Mullen, in this vincinity on Thursday evening, March 28th (1889), after an illness of eight weeks. Mr. Mullen was fifty-nine years old. The remains were taken to the Presbyterian cemetery on Saturday and were followed by a large concourse of friends. He was born in Canada near Montreal, June 12th, 1830. He came to Illinois in 1853, from there to this country in 1874 and has lived in Montgomery county ever since, making his home with his brother Dan. He never was a professor, but lived a quiet life. About a week before he died, Mr. Holmes, a minister of this vicinity, talked and prayed with him, and he told his friends he felt that the Lord had blessed him, and he was ready to die. Dr's, Hines and Jackson made a post-mortem examination, and his disease was cancer of the stomach. Mr. Mullen had no family, but leaves four brothers to mourn his loss, three of whom were at his bedside when he died, the other being in California. Just a year ago the 26th of March, Isaac followed his mother to the grave.
