Glenn Tarr, 21, Died Friday On The West Coast
Services Will Be Held Here Wednesday., Leaves Widow and SonGlenn Tarr, 21, former Red Oak boy who was popular in high school athletic circles, DeMolay activities and a member of the Christian church, the son of Jay Tarr, of Wright, Minn., died at 10 o'clock Friday morning at his home in Los Angeles, Calif., following two week's illness of rheumatism which affected the heart. The body will arrive in Red Oak this evening on Burlington train no. 12 from the west.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Perryman Funeral Chapel in charge of Rev. Ira E. Carney. Serving as pallbearers will be members of Company M, Iowa National guards of Red Oak, of which company the deceased was a member when he left Red Oak. They are: Glenn Davis, Francis Davis, Homer Wellenman, Paul Vannordstrand, Paul Story, and Marion Evans. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Serving as flower girls will be Maxine Davis, Caroline Murphy and Eloise Pogue.
Glenn Tarr was born in Red Oak December 12, 1911, the son of Jay and Elsie Tarr. He attended the grade schools and high school and was a star on the Red Oak football team and otherwise popular in athletic activities in the school. He was a member of the Christian church, a former member of the DeMolays and a member of Compamy M when he left here for California two years ago.
On October 7, 1929 he was married to Miss Opal Essman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Essman, of Red Oak, at Creston. The couple was high school students at the time of their marriage and finished the school that year, when Mr. Tarr took up work at the People's Market. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Tarr went to the state of Washington where they lived a short time and later moved to Los Angeles where he found employment and was doing nicely when he became ill.
He is survived by his widow and one son, Jimmie Lee, 2 years old, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Tarr, one sister, Miss Lucille Tarr, and his grandmother, Mrs. Leo Tarr, of Red Oak.
