Mrs. Elizabeth Gardner died of cancer last Tuesday afternoon at about four o’clock, at the home of her son Mahlon in this city. She was over ninety-one years of age. Her suffering during the past few months has been intense but she patiently endured it until death cane to her relief. The funeral services were held at the house Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Villisca Cemetery, Rev. W. M. Dudley officiating. Deceased was a member of the M.E. church and proved faithful to the end. She leaves six children to mourn her departure, Samuel, Geo., Mahlon and Mrs. Anna Patton, all of Villisca, D.L. Bridgewater and James of Saybrook, Illinois. The latter was unable to attend the funeral.
