Isabella Carson was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, April 19, 1817. At the age of fifteen she united with the Associate Presbyterian church of which denomination she has v\ever since been a consistent member. She was married to James P. Hammond in Jefferson county the 24th day of December, 1842. A year later they moved to Morrow county, Ohio, and from there to Washington, Ia., April 7th 1862. In Feb. 1869 they came to Monroe county where she continued to live until her death, on the 8th day of May, 1905, she passed away at the age of 88 years and 19 days.
