James "Jay" E. Love
James “Jay” E. Love, 77, of Knoxville, Iowa and formerly of Albia, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Union Chapel Cemetery in Albia, Iowa with military honors.
Jay was born November 17, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa to Mr. Richard H. and Shirley (Hatchitt) Love. The family moved to Albia, Iowa in 1952 and in 1957, he graduated from high school in Albia. Jay attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College for one year.
Shortly after high school, Jay enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1960. Thereafter, he was a road construction worker in Broward County, Florida and Monroe County, Iowa. He then began a long career in heavy road equipment sales until his retirement from Star Equipment Company in June 2010.
Jay met and married Nancy Ward on September 17, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Tim and Danielle. The marriage dissolved after 22 years.
Jay is survived by son, Tim (Deb) Love of Altoona; daughter, Dani (Neil) Graves of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Jessica Love of Chariton, T.J. Love, of the U.S. Marine Corps is currently stationed in Japan and Maddilyn Love Graves of Knoxville; two brothers, Dick Love of Grand Rapids, MI and Steve Love of Venice, FL; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John R. Love.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jay’s name to the Pine Knolls Country Club.
