Mary Jeannine Morelli
Mary Jeannine Sinnott-Morelli, 86, left this life on February 24, 2016 at Heritage of Hudson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hudson, Ohio due to complications of pancreatic cancer.
Jeannine was born on March 10, 1929 in Burlington, Iowa to Steven J. Sinnott and Anna Margaret Ciska-Sinnott.
Jeannine spent her early years in Melrose, Iowa but her mother was forced to leave Melrose and return to Burlington for work after Jeannine’s father suddenly died at a very young age.
After high school she left Iowa and traveled to Washington, DC for work with the federal government. In Washington, Jeannine met U.S. Army Sergeant John Morelli who had two sons from a previous marriage. Jeannine married Sergeant Morelli in 1947 in Burlington. They continued to live in the Washington area and were married for 48 years.
Jeannine began work for the FBI in Washington DC and later in 1959 the Department of the Army, The Pentagon and retired in 1997 after 37 years of dedicated service. In 2011 Jeannine left the Washington, DC area and moved to Silver Lake Towers in Stow, Ohio to be near her family.
Jeannine was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow. Jeannine enjoyed dancing and was always ready for a good party or outdoor event. She and John hosted many throughout their lifetimes. A Morelli party or event was the place to be for great home cooked Italian food, dancing, and revelry. Jeannine was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and rarely missed a game. Go Skins!!! She was athletic and continued to run 5 miles a day into her late sixties.
Jeannine is survived by her sister Kay Skipton, Burlington Iowa, her sons Tom Morelli, Seoul Korea, and John Morelli, Stephens City Virginia, daughter Pamela Morelli-Bond, Munroe Falls Ohio, grandchildren Tom Morelli, Tony Morelli, Brigit Bond-Hazlett, Brett Bond, Chong Morelli, Young Ah Morelli, Hailey Hazlett, ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grand child.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Steven and Margaret and brothers William (Bill), Walter and Don.
Jeannine will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Friends may call 5-7PM Wednesday, March 2nd at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd (Rt. 59 at Rt. 91) in Stow; where the funeral service will commence at 7PM with Fr. Mike Ausperk celebrant. A burial service will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church in Melrose, Iowa on a future date.
