November 21, 1996William W. "Bill" Barry, 82, Davenport, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial is in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 3 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary recited at 7:30. Memorials may be made to the church.
Mr. Barry was born Feb. 18, 1914, on a farm west of Melrose, Iowa. He married Anne Marie Sulentic Nov. 20, 1943, in Davenport.
He farmed near Melrose for many years before coming to Davenport. He was employed by Ordinance Steel, J.I. Case Co., Illinois-Iowa Dairy and Downing's Dairy of Rock Island, retiring in 1975.
He was a World War II Army veteran, having served as a drill instructor. He was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. He liked to sing and act and was a member of the Quad-City Music Guild. He also enjoyed sports, especially University of Iowa football and basketball.
Survivors include the widow; daughters, Suzanne Colleen Bobula, Madison, Wis., and Jane Barry, Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; a son, William Michael Barry, Louisville, Colo.; grandchildren, Amy Barry, Holly Anne Bobula, Melissa Marie Bobula, and twins, Jeffrey and Jennifer Bobula; and a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Michael Kasper, Davenport.
