George Davis, 68, Blakesburg, Dies

George Harold Davis, 68, of Blakesburg, a retired section hand and foreman for the Chicago-Milwaukee-St.Paul and Pacific Railroad in Moravia and Blakesburg, died Sunday in the Monroe county Hospital where he had been a patient for two days.
Mr. Davis was born July 1, 1899 in Monroe county, the son of Orrin and Margaret Tisue Davis. He married Wilma Jones, December 24, 1924. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Donald of Manchester, Michigan, William of Blakesburg, Vernon of Ottumwa, Thomas of Iowa City and three daughters, Versal Woollums, Rte. 1, Ottumwa and Dorla Betty Davis of Blakesburg. Also surviving are 5 brothers, Arthur and Ralph of Moravia, Carl of Henry, Nebraska, Clell of Spring Valley, Minnesota and LaVern of Phoenix, Arizona and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Phoenix and Mrs. Elmer Vance Ate (sic) 1, Albia.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m at the Knedler Funeral Home in Blakesburg with the Rev. Ray Block of the First Methodist Church in Blakesburg officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery in Moravia.
