>From the obituary notice published after the death of MRS. RHODA HANCOCK,
the following is taken:

RHODA DUNNIGAN was born in Indiana, August 20, 1828, where she spent her
childhood days. At the age of 18 years she was united in marriage to WM.
VARDMAN HANCOCK, this happy wedlock existing for 5 years. Shortly after
marriage she came with her husband to Iowa settling on a farm in Monroe
County, near the place now known as Melrose. For over 45 years this couple
continued to live on this farm. They later removed to Plano, Iowa, where
the husband died in December, 1894.

To this union were born 14 children, 12 of whom are living: ALBERT T.HANCOCK, MRS. SARAH ANN THOMPSON and MRS. JANE COUCHMAN, of Rexford, Kansas; LAFE HANCOCK, Florence, Kansas; JOHN F. HANCOCK, Faulkner, Kansas; HENRY C.HANCOCK, Russell, Iowa; HARLAN HANCOCK, Plano, Iowa; SUMMER HANCOCK, Allerton, Iowa MRS. T.P. ASBURY and MRS. O.C. HOUSE, Tingley, Iowa; MRS. T.F WHERRY, Iowa Falls, Iowa; MRS. TOM SULLIVAN, Corydon, Iowa; all of which were present at the funeral services. Besides the 6 sons and 6 daughters there are 47 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren living.

At the funeral services of the father, the six sons acted as pall bearers and the same arrangements were followed for the mother, making a most touching scene.
