The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, March 7, 1907Relatives here received the sad news by telegram of the death of MRS.
CHARLES CARR, at her home in Cedar Rapids, Tuesday morning, at 5 o'clock.
AGNES KNOWLES as we know her, was born and raised near Melrose where she
taught school and was distinguished as an exemplary woman. She was married
here to CHARLES CARR and after a few years' residence near Georgetown,
removed to Solon, where they resided until a few months ago, when a
promotion in MR. CARR's work as roadmaster on the B.C.R. & N. road obliged
them to remove to Cedar Rapids. It was a fatal move as at that time she
contracted la grippe which resulted in her death. Her death is much
deplored as she leaves ten children, the youngest eight months old, who are
thus bereft of a loving mother's care. J.D. KNOWLES, her brother, and MRS.
ALEX MCDONALD, a sister, and MR. MCDONALD left on No. 2 Tuesday night to
attend the funeral which was held at Solon, on Thursday, the remains being
laid to rest beside those of her child who passed away while they resided
there.-- MELROSE RECORD.
