Shirley Williams
Shirley A. (Quinn) Williams, 66, of Albia, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at the Monroe County Hospital. A funeral mass was held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, Rev. William Walter CPPS officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia.
She was born Jan. 30, 1937 in Chariton to William and Catherine (Barron) Quinn, and graduated from Lovilia High School in 1955. She married Lowell (Sonny) Williams in 1956 and raised their family in Albia. She worked many years at Chamberlain's Manufacturing in the office and recently was the secretary at Gilbert-Boman Funeral Homes. When not at work she spent time golfing with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards with her lifelong card club of over 40 years. She was an active member and current president of PEO Chapter H, a member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary and the Woman's Club.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years; four children, Regina Williams of Des Plaines, Ill., Mike (and Dumsile) Williams of Broomfield, Colo., Debbie Williams of Oskaloosa, and Jason of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Zoli, Liyandza, and Swazi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Art Peterson; and brother, Tom.
Casketbearers were Bob Crumley, Vince Ed Tierney, Dick Cronin, Kenny Williams, Larry Evans, and Joe Barron.
Honorary casketbearers were Irene Flattery, Mary Crall, Charlene Crall, Mary Ann Crall, Shirley Rockwell, Virginia Della Vedova and Virginia Ryan.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parish or the American Cancer Society.
Gilbert-Boman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
