Mrs. Mary Greene was born Miltown, Tipperary Co., Ireland, October 28, 1846 and died
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. D. Dinneen, Melrose, December 14, 1921, age 75y.
2m. 29d. One of 11 children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Nora Ryan. One brother, Patrick
Ryan, survives, of Miltown, Tipperary co., Ireland. She married Michael Green in
Cluoulty parish, Tipperary co., Ireland, August 15, 1863. Eleven children, two died in
infancy. One son, Michael, age 24, died Philadelphia, Pa. and a daughter, Mary, wife of
Thomas Connelly, died February 1916 and is buried St. Patrick's cemetery, Georgetown.
Children living are: Mrs. R. E. Lee, Melrose; Lawrence Green, Lovilia; Mrs. N. A. Smith,
Omaha, Nebraska; Thomas Green, Des Moines; Mrs. E. H. Murray and Mrs. D. J.
Dinneen, Melrose; Mrs. S. Sweazey, Ames; 33 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
They left Ireland in 1873 and went to England and came to America in
1886, to Tyrone, Monroe co., Iowa. Six years ago they moved to Georgetown. She is
buried St. Patrick's cemetery, Georgetown.
