Margaret Donahue

Margaret Donahue, 80, of Mason City, died Friday, April 20, 2001 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating. Graveside services were 4:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.

She was born Jan. 13, 1921 in Melrose to James and Sara (Barry) Donahue. She graduated from St. Patrick Catholic School in Doughtery and then from Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City. She worked for one year at the Mason City Warehouse Corp. before beginning her job as an insurance underwriter for Iowa Hardware Mutual, which then became Iowa Kuemper Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Mary Magdalene Church Circle. She was active in the Friends of the Mason City Public Library and many other volunteer groups.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Scieszinski of Webster City; her sister-in-law, Lillian Donahue of Waseca, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James; two nieces; and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Hospice of North Iowa.
