Joseph J. Ciska, 63, of Mission Viejo, Calf., died July 30, 2005, at his home after a short illness. Services were held Aug. 5, 2005 in Mission Viejo with burial of his ashes Aug. 6 in the ocean off the coast of Newport Beach, Calif.

Joe was born July 1, 1942 in Chariton to Myrtle (Judy) (Garrington) and Martin F. (Opie) Ciska.

He married Susan Ernst, Nov. 27, 1965 in Chicago, Ill.

Joe lived in Albia until 1960 when he entered the Army and was stationed in Germany. After his duty in the Army he moved to Chicago where he met and married Susan. He moved from Chicago to Wisconsin, back to Chicago and then to California. Joe was an independent national sales rep. Working for IBM and Pro-Tec buying electronic components and copper.

Joe had a great love of life and his travels took him all over the world, but he loved fishing trips to Mexico and golf with family and friends. His love of life, is exceeded only by his love for his wife Susan, his children, grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Robert of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Joseph of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Daniel of Chicago, ILL.; one daughter, Karen Cook of Mission Viejo, Calif., and nine grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen of Mason City and James of Mineral, Va.; three sisters, Julie (Blaine) Carter of Albia, Carolyn (Denny) Chidester of Batavia, ILL., and Margaret (May) Moffatt of Albia.​
