Obituary

Robert Larner, one of Monroe County's oldest pioneers, died June 17, at the home of his grand daughter, Mrs. W. T. Morrissey, one mile north of town. Aged 87 years 4 months and 14 days. General senility and old age was the cause of his death.

He was born in County Galway, Ireland, Dec. 3, 1815, and came to the United States when very young, landing at New Orleans. He settled in Monroe county, Iowa, in 1847, and had been a resident of this county for 56 years.

His wife preceded him in death 13 years ago.

Funeral was held at St. Mary's Catholic church June 20, Rev. W. J. Guinan officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Georgetown cemetery.
