Obituary
Rowles

Sarah Elizabeth Hinton, daughter of Mary and Zachariah Hinton, was born on what is now the Sam Kirkham farm, a few miles southeast of Albia, February 4, 1860. The family later moved to a tract of land adjoining the present farm on which she has lived for many years. There, February 18, 1877, she was married to W. A. Rowles, to whom she was a helpmate for more than 68 years, always looking well to her household.

Early in her married life she united with the Albia Methodist church where she attended services as long as her health permitted. She was the good mother of three children, Mrs. Cyrus Hall, Arthur G. Rowles, deceased, and Mrs. James Dorman.

Her husband, W. A. Rowles, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Dorman, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one brother, W.W. Hinton, are left, not to mourn her departure, but to follow in her footsteps, and, in the words of Jesus to His disciples, “If ye loved me, ye would rejoice because I go unto my Father”. During the long months of her all but helpless condition, not a word of complaint was spoken. Earth receding and Heaven advancing until the early dawning of July 25, 1945, when she passed quietly on, at the age of 85 years and six months.

Funeral services were held at the Rowles home southeast of Albia Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Cecil A. Wells in charge. Interment was in Oak View Cemetery.
