July 8, 1926Miss Ellen Griffin, aged 73 years, passed away at her home in Lovilia, early Saturday morning July 3, 1926, following a stroke of apoplexy.
She was a daughter of John and Mary Collins Griffin, who settled in Monroe county in an early day, and she had always made her home in this part of the county.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a sister, Mrs. Hannah Hollinrake of Adair, Ia., and a brother Tom of Lovilia, also many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church, Weller, Monday morning, July 5, conducted by Rev. C. A. B. Van Waus, and burial was made in St. Mary’s cemetery.
