M. J. Hannam dies today

Mortimer J. Hannam. 72, of Melrose, died this morning at the Monroe County Hospital here.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose with the Rev. Eugene H. Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Humeston Funeral Home.

Mr. Hannam was born near Melrose June 21, 1900, the son of John and Margaret McDonald Hannam. He was married Feb. 27, 1924 in Lovilia to Margaret Sheedy. They had farmed in the Melrose area.

Surviving are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Jean) Turbat* of Omaha, Mrs. George (Sheila) Starcevic of Centerville, Mrs. Ed (Deloris) Scieszinski of Melrose and Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Donaghy of Ankeny. Also surviving are two brothers, Albert of Milwaukee and Edward of Knoxville, and 23 grandchildren.

A son and two brothers preceded him in death.
