ObituaryG. R. Billings, 61 , of 427 La Porte road, crane operator here for many years, died of carcinoma at 4:00 p.m. Monday in Presbyterian hospital, where he had been admitted Sept. 6.
Born Nov. 22, 1882, in Albia, a son of Levi and Mary Billings, he married Ida Fern Miller there Dec. 14, 1904, and they later moved here from Albia 19 years ago.
He was a member of United Brethren Church.
Surviving are the widow: four sons, Preston D., Clarinda, Ia.: Ivan L., 1919 Falls Avenue; Cpl. Melvin, radio technician in the army, stationed in the South Pacific area, and John, seaman second class in the navy, also in the Pacific; one daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Richmond, 303 Whitney; four brothers, Victor, Albert, Harrison, and Williard, all of Albia; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Beebe, Scotts Bluff, Neb.; Mrs. Daisy Beebe, Mitchell, Nev.; Mrs. Minnie Lisenger and Mrs. Ella Porter, both of Albia and nine grandchildren.
The body was taken to Kearns Garden Chapel.

Funeral services for George R. Billings, 61, of 427 La Porte road, who died Monday in Presbyterian hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Kearns Garden chapel. Rev. Oscar Barhart., pastor of Union Gospel church, will be in charge.
Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery.
No dates given or source. Found obits in a scrapbook. I do know he died in 1944 as he is my Grandfather. I assume this was published in the Waterloo Courier, Waterloo, Iowa.
