OTO, Iowa -- Jean Cender, 71, passed away quietly Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at her daughter's residence in Oto after a long illness.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship in Holly Springs, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery at Castana, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.

Jean was born on Jan. 1, 1933, in Turin, Iowa, and resided with her parents, John and Irma Wilson, in the hills of Castana, Iowa.

She was married to Loren Davenport on April 22, 1953, in Ute, Iowa, and they had four children together, Diane, Kim, Brenda and Terry. Jean and Loren parted ways and Jean moved to Kansas City, Kan. and then to Omaha, Neb. She worked for the telephone company and started a new life with Rudy Cender. They resided in Ben Salem, Pa. for many years. Upon retiring from the telephone company, Jean returned to the Midwest as she so enjoyed the beauty of the land and the company of her family.

She left us with the dignity and strength she exhibited throughout her life, and may she now find loving rest and new adventures in her next life. There are very few like her in the world, and we were lucky to have her with us as long as we were permitted.

Those survivors left to cherish their memories of Jean include three daughters, Diane of Florida, Kim of Oto, Iowa and Brenda of North Carolina; a son, Terry, of Iowa; a brother, Edward Wilson, of Iowa; a sister, Wilma Mauch, of Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

Jean will always be remembered for her giving heart and her inspiring faith in all things good. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
