BESSIE FLORENCE BUTCHER KINSLEY.
Bessie Florence Butcher Kinsley was born in Wilcox, Franklin County, Nebraska on June 5, 1887, in a sod house. She was the oldest of five children born to William and Ann Howell Butcher.
She passed from this life in the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, death came at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 23 days.
When she was three years old, she came to Monona County with her parents and was a resident of Onawa most of her life. On April 6, 1910 she was united in marriage with Arthur W. Kinsley in Onawa. To this union two sons were born, Harold and Wayne.
Bessie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Onawa, also a member of the Elise Rebekah Lodge, (Past Noble Grand) and she did belong to the Esther Society for a number of years. She clerked in various stores in Onawa, all who became acquainted with her will long remember her friendly way and her sincere desire to be helpful to each one with whom she came in contact.
Survivors include her son Wayne and wife of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three granddaughters and five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mabel Shaffer of Onawa and Myrtle McJunkin of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, son Harold, her mother and father and two brothers, Harry and Ray Butcher.
Services were held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 29, 1980, at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Clara Kelley, the organist, played the selections "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus". Bearers were Ralph Lindley, John Tyson, James Murray, Franklin Seitzinger, Bert Seitzinger, and Rex Seitzinger.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
