Darrell Dean Andrews, 89, of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at UnityPoint Health- St. Luke’s, Sioux City, Iowa.

A public visitation will be 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. (with family present) Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa. A private family memorial service will be held at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa, with Pastor Chuck Snow, officiating. Private family burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Darrell Dean was born November 20, 1935, in rural Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Richard “Richie” and Mildred (Melby) Andrews. He grew up near Moorhead, Iowa, and attended country school and graduated in 1954 from Moorhead High School.

Darrell married his high school classmate and sweetheart, Beverly Jean Yanak on June 11, 1955, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple lived in Onawa until 1961 and then found their forever home in Moorhead where they raised their two children, Pam and Deb. Their 69 years of marriage was a testament to the love they had for each other.

He worked at various places including the ASCS office (Farm Service Agency) in Onawa, Iowa, Moorhead Coop, Irvin F. Jensen Construction Company, driving truck and hauling grain and livestock for local producers, and retired from Monona County Secondary Roads as a maintainer operator. He was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa.

Darrell enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, playing baseball with his grandkids (in his cowboy boots), playing cards, going to the dog races, and he loved going to the casino. He frequently dined at Frannie’s Café with his wife. Darrell was always known for his great jokes (even while at church) and captivating stories. His laugh, jokes, and stories will forever warm our hearts.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Andrews of Moorhead, Iowa; two daughters, Pamela (Joe) McAndrews of Onawa, Iowa, and Debra (Scott) Johnson of Moorhead, Iowa; grandchildren, Justin Nuzum of Pisgah, Iowa, Jade (Mindy) Nuzum of Omaha, Nebraska, Jarred Nuzum of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jami (Fiancé Chen Fandagani) Nuzum of Bennington, Nebraska, Cory (Bobbi) Johnson of Sloan, Iowa, Chris (Steph) Johnson of Moorhead, Iowa, and Candice (Joel) Spaan of Elkhorn, Nebraska; step- grandchildren, Nola (Doug) Rawls, and Lacie (Ken) Pettigrew; great-grandchildren, Zach Nuzum, Tori (Bailey) Boettcher, Jada Nuzum, Noah Nuzum, Carter Nuzum, Cora Nuzum, Keila Nuzum, Andrew Johnson, Breyden Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Landon Johnson, Lydiah Johnson, Clara Spaan, and Max Spaan; step-great-grandchildren, Trevin Pettigrew, Austin Pettigrew, Andrew Yonker, and Jessa Yonker; great-great-grandchildren, Veronica Boettcher and Collins Boettcher; brother, Bob Andrews of Moorhead, Iowa; sisters, Carol Michael of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Dorothy Babe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Jim) Moeller of Tontitown, Arkansas, Barb Mann of Turin, Iowa, and Joleen (Dave) Taylor of Onawa, Iowa; brother-in-law, Larry (Dorothy) Yanak of Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Richie” and Mildred (Melby) Andrews; brothers, Howard (Deloris) Andrews, Bernard (Thelma) Andrews, and Glen (Emogene) Andrews; sister, Janice (Art) Massie; brothers-in-law, Lyle Babe, Bob McGuire, and Grant Mann; and grandson, Joel Nuzum.
