2 October 2024Bonnie L. “Pat” Deen, 92, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Reverend Richard Moore, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Pat’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Bonnie L. “Pat” was born May 11, 1932, in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Maxine (Kenney) Kirk. She was raised on a farm near Sloan and was baptized at the Christian Church. Pat attended Sloan Public School graduating with the class of 1950. She was the last survivor of her graduating class. After high school, Pat graduated from the Omaha School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.
Pat and Frank Beedle were united in marriage on February 8, 1953, in the Onawa Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa. Frank passed away in a tragic accident on October 20,1955. To this union their daughter Jo was born. Pat and Don Deen were united in marriage on July 22, 1956, in Onawa, Iowa. Together they had their daughter Dawn Ann. The couple later divorced.
She worked for several places including Wilson Trailer Company, Langren Grain, and later retired from Cargill as the office manager for many years.
Pat enjoyed knitting, sewing, bowling, boating, traveling, and dancing. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She was an active member of the Whiting Town Mothers Club, when raising her girls.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo (Bill) Murdock of Sloan, Iowa, and Dawn Ann (Wayne) Defebaugh of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren, Bob (Lisa) Murdock of Sloan, Iowa, Britt (Greg) Ryan of Marengo, Iowa, Connor (Kelsey) Defebaugh of Rockwall, Texas, and Cameron (Janae) Defebaugh of Royse City, Texas; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Ayla Ryan of Marengo, Iowa, Deen and Daisy Defebaugh of Rockwall, Texas, and Brodie and Baker Defebaugh of Royse City, Texas; and other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Beedle; parents, Clyde and Maxine (Kenney) Kirk; brother, Bill Kirk; her beloved dog, C. B.; and several other relatives, and lifelong friends.
