16 October 2024William “Bill” Gagnon, Sr., 64, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life service will be 10:00 A.M. October 19, 2024 at the Jordan Valley Bible Church, 23670 Plum Avenue, Castana, Iowa 51010. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
William Joseph Gagnon was born August 23, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, the community known as Rogers Park, the son of Armand and Gabrielle (Guay) Gagnon. Bill, along with older sisters Susan and Claudia grew up in Chicago, where he later graduated from Gordan Tech High School in 1978. He continued his education at DeVry University in Chicago and graduated with an electrician degree. He was an electrician for twenty-eight years. Most of his working career he worked for Thompson Electric. Due to health reasons Bill had to take early retirement.
Bill and Gladys Dunham were united into marriage June 12, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois. Four children were born to this union, Delia, Amanda, Billy, and Richard. The couple later divorced.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren to whom he referred to as “his legacy”. Some of Bill’s hobbies and interests were shooting guns, reloading shells, flying his drones, and computers.
He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 231 in Sioux City, Iowa.
Survivors include his children, Delia Gagnon of Danbury, Iowa, Amanda Gagnon of Onawa, Iowa, William “Billy”, Jr. (Jennie) Gagnon of Danbury, Iowa, and Richard Gagnon of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan (Beau Mohr) Allen, Jasmine (Kyler Prell) Allen, Aubrey Allen, Levi Allen, Timothy Gagnon, Freya Gagnon, Gabrielle “Gabbie” McConnell, Charlotte Gagnon, Hannah Gagnon, and William “Liam” Gagnon, III; one great-grandchild, Randy Prell; sister, Claudia Gagnon of Webb City, Missouri; former son-in-law, Travis Allen; former spouse and her husband, Gladys and Fernado Monroy of Mapleton, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Gabrielle (Guay) Gagnon; sister, Susan Lamkey; sister-in-law, Bonnie Lytton; and stepmother, Geraldine Gagnon.
