8 May 2024Karen Ann Hansen, 77, of San Diego, California, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
A private burial will occur at Ingemann Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Karen Ann was born on September 19, 1946, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Alvin and Ethel Lucille (Mathison) Hansen. She grew up in San Diego, California, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. Karen continued her education at San Diego State College and received her Secondary Education Degree and her Masters Education Degree.
Karen was very passionate about education and taught for many years in San Diego, California, until her retirement in 2001.
She enjoyed puzzles, cats, and dogs. Karen was past president of the Friends of Cats Organization, with the goal of placing healthy cats into adoptive homes. She was the caregiver for many years for her mother Ethel (Mathison) Hansen.
Survivors include her twin brother, Michael Hansen and his wife, Linda Kazarian of San Diego, California; and several cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ethel (Mathison) Hansen; paternal grandparents, Oscar L. and Agnes L. (Anderson) Hansen; and maternal grandparents, Carl and Rosala Mathison.
