Mrs. Christy McClatchey, 72, of Mapleton, died Friday, January 25, 1980, at her home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. John's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Louis Aitken officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City under direction of the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. McClatchey, the former Mary Augusta Carroll, was born September 19, 1907, to George and Mary (Allen) Carroll at Twin Brooks, South Dakota. Her family moved to Iowa when she was young. She resided in Onawa and Kennebec. She was married August 31, 1927, at Denison. They lived in Ida Grove and Battle Creek before moving to Mapleton in 1939. Mr. McClatchey died November 13, 1961.

Mrs. McClatchey was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women and was a youth counselor in the church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a Rainbow mother and former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She worked as a cook at the Maple Valley School.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leonhard (June) Wodtke of Oto, Mrs. William (Audria) Hamilton of Iowa Falls and Mrs. Martin (Mary Ann)
Christensen of Lombard, Illinois; three sons, Robert of Knoxville, the Rev. Russell of Baltimore, Maryland and Richard of Lacy, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Petersen of Battle Creek; three brothers, Floyd of Sylmar, California, Allen of Grand Junction, Colorado and George of Onawa; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Brian McClatchey, David Christensen, Gary Wodtke, Christy McClatchey, Bruce Wodtke and Gary Stenzel.
