DANBURY, Iowa - Susan Wessling, 81, of Danbury died Monday in a nursing home in Whiting after a short illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Wednesday by the Altar Society and at 8 p.m. by the parish in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Wessling, the former Susan Peter, was born Feb. 10, 1904, in Danbury and was a lifelong Danbury and Mapleton community resident. She married Joseph H. Wessling Feb. 14, 1924, at Danbury. They farmed in the Danbury-Mapleton vicinity, retiring in 1965.

Mrs. Wessling was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the church.

Survivors include her husband of the Whiting Nursing Home; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Verna) Setran of Omaha; three sons, Leonard of Sioux City, John and Linus, both of Mapleton; one brother, Joseph of Danbury; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Newhouse of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Bertha Collins of Carson City, Nev., and Mrs. Loretta Collins of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
