MAPLETON, Iowa - John A. Schoenherr, 81, of Mapleton died Sunday in a nursing home in Mapleton after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Gerald Zensen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Schoenherr was born July 26, 1900, in Mapleton.

He married Anna Gollhofer Feb. 9, 1927, in Mapleton. They farmed in the Mapleton community, retiring in 1966. They lived in Sioux City for 14 years, returning to Mapleton in 1980.

Mr. Schoenherr was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John of Ida Grove, Harold of Sioux City and Jerry of Danbury; four daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) Vogelzang of Panama, Iowa, Mrs. Norbert (Marcella) Seitz of Oakland, Neb., Mrs. Ronald (Jo Ann) Roberts of Omaha and Mrs. Harry (Darlene) Grochowski of Plantation, Fla.; two brothers, Gerald of Sioux City and Walter of Merrill; six sisters, Mrs. Herman (Luella) Schramm and Mrs. Mary Hartnett, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Irma Kreutner of Spencer, Mrs. Judy Fox of Yuma, Ariz., Mrs. Emmett (Lucy) Mohrhauser of Lake View and Mrs. August (Theresa) Stodden of Newton; 21 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
